CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Under Executive Order 13780, issued by President
  Donald J. Trump, entry into the United States has been suspended for
  90 days for immigrants from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and
  Yemen; and
         WHEREAS, The order also allows for the creation and
  implementation of tougher screening and vetting standards for all
  immigration programs to better identify those traveling to our
  country with malicious intent; and
         WHEREAS, According to the Department of State's Country
  Reports on Terrorism 2015, conditions in the six countries listed
  in the executive order present a heightened risk to the safety and
  security of the United States, and Iran, Sudan, and Syria are
  identified as state sponsors of terrorism; and
         WHEREAS, The threat level in Texas was "elevated" as recently
  as January 2017, after the Texas Department of Public Safety
  released a report detailing issues of security along the
  Texas-Mexico border relating to terrorists from Syria; and
         WHEREAS, Ensuring the safety of all citizens is the greatest
  responsibility of government, and in signing this executive order,
  President Trump appropriately used his authority to protect our
  great nation from those who seek to do us harm; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas,
  1st Called Session, hereby express support for Executive Order
  13780, Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the
  United States.
