| WHEREAS, Kenneth B. Nolen is being inducted into the | ||
| Petroleum Hall of Fame on April 30, 2023; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Established in October 1967, the Petroleum Hall of | ||
| Fame recognizes individuals who have made outstanding | ||
| contributions to the development of the petroleum industry; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Kenneth Nolen graduated from Texas A&M University in | ||
| 1957 with a degree in mechanical engineering; shortly thereafter, | ||
| he joined Shell Oil Company as a production engineer, and he worked | ||
| there for more than a decade; in 1970, he partnered with Sam G. | ||
| Gibbs to form Nabla Corp., and he helped grow the business to design | ||
| and diagnose hydraulic and submersible pump systems, as well as | ||
| build digital dynamometers, pump-off controls, and fluid level | ||
| instruments; Mr. Nolen again joined with Mr. Gibbs in 2014 to found | ||
| GreenShot LLC, which specialized in automated well fluid level | ||
| technology; in 2018, the company was sold to WellWorx Energy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An expert in his field, Mr. Nolen has eight patents, | ||
| and he has written numerous textbooks and technical papers on | ||
| artificial lift; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through his hard work and commitment to innovation, | ||
| Kenneth Nolen has distinguished himself as a successful and | ||
| influential figure in an industry that is such a vital part of the | ||
| Texas economy, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious honor; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas | ||
| hereby congratulate Kenneth B. Nolen on his induction into the | ||
| Petroleum Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for the | ||
| future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Nolen as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives and Senate. | ||
