HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Teachers make a difference each day with the energy
  and creativity they bring to the education of our children; and
         WHEREAS, They help keep American democracy alive by laying
  the foundation for good citizenship, and they instill in young
  people a love of learning; and
         WHEREAS, Filling such roles as listener, explorer, role
  model, motivator, and mentor, teachers continue to influence us
  long after our school days are over; and
         WHEREAS, Few other professionals touch as many lives as
  teachers, and it is indeed fitting to recognize these committed men
  and women for their contributions to our state's most precious
  resource; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby designate the first full week of May as Texas Teacher
  Appreciation Week; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That in accordance with the provisions of Section
  391.004(d), Government Code, the designation expires on the 10th
  anniversary of the date this resolution is passed by the
  legislature.
