| WHEREAS, Teachers make a difference each day with the energy | ||
| and creativity they bring to the education of our children; and | ||
| WHEREAS, They help keep American democracy alive by laying | ||
| the foundation for good citizenship, and they instill in young | ||
| people a love of learning; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Filling such roles as listener, explorer, role | ||
| model, motivator, and mentor, teachers continue to influence us | ||
| long after our school days are over; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Few other professionals touch as many lives as | ||
| teachers, and it is indeed fitting to recognize these committed men | ||
| and women for their contributions to our state's most precious | ||
| resource; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas | ||
| hereby designate the first full week of May as Texas Teacher | ||
| Appreciation Week; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That in accordance with the provisions of Section | ||
| 391.004(d), Government Code, the designation expires on the 10th | ||
| anniversary of the date this resolution is passed by the | ||
| legislature. | ||
