HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 
         WHEREAS, The year 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the
  Greater Austin Crime Commission; and
         WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1997, the Greater Austin Crime
  Commission has remained committed to supporting law enforcement
  personnel and other first responders in Central Texas, sponsoring
  crime prevention and youth outreach programs, and advocating for
  regional public safety planning; and
         WHEREAS, The Greater Austin Crime Commission has
  additionally provided tremendous support and resources to a host of
  worthwhile initiatives in the local community, including an annual
  9/11 memorial, the Longhorn Leaders program, the Austin Police
  Department Guns4Groceries program, the Global Security Summit, and
  such youth outreach activities as Do the Write Thing, Kids and Cops,
  and Safe Schools Week; and
         WHEREAS, The Greater Austin Crime Commission has been ably
  guided by its presidents, Mack Wallace, Dr. William H. Cunningham,
  U.S. Navy Admiral (Ret.) Bobby R. Inman, Roy Butler, Ralph Wayne,
  Joe E. Holt, Richard S. Hill, Pamela P. Willeford, Paul J. Bury
  III, and David L. Roche; it has also benefited from the dedicated
  work of the other members of its board of directors; and
         WHEREAS, For the past two decades, the Greater Austin Crime
  Commission has made immeasurable contributions to enhancing the
  safety and quality of life in the area, and this occasion presents a
  welcome opportunity to recognize this noteworthy organization;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Greater Austin Crime
  Commission and extend to all those associated with the group
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the commission as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
