| WHEREAS, Our country's judicial system was founded on the | ||
| principle that every American deserves equal justice under the law; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Filing fees create an undue burden on many Texans, | ||
| and the state would benefit from adopting policies to ensure that | ||
| all citizens have equal access to the courts; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas | ||
| hereby request the Texas Supreme Court to conduct a study of court | ||
| filing fees that considers ways to eliminate such fees; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official | ||
| copy of this resolution to the chief justice of the Texas Supreme | ||
| Court. | ||
