| relating to making an appropriation to the Texas Department of | ||
| Transportation for a streetcar line in Dallas. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION: PROPOSED DALLAS STREETCAR LINE. | ||
| The amount of $35 million is appropriated from the general revenue | ||
| fund for the fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2011, to the | ||
| Texas Department of Transportation to promote economic development | ||
| through the construction by the City of Dallas of a streetcar line | ||
| connecting downtown Dallas and Oak Cliff. The department shall | ||
| monitor the expenditure of the appropriation to ensure that the | ||
| money is being used for the intended purpose. | ||
| SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect | ||
| immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members | ||
| elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas | ||
| Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for | ||
| immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
