| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 171, Health and Safety | ||
| Code, is amended by adding Section 171.006 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 171.006. PROHIBITED USE OF STATE OR GOVERNMENTAL | ||
| ENTITY RESOURCES. This state or a governmental entity in this state | ||
| may not provide support to a person or facility that performs | ||
| abortions or provides abortion-related services. Support | ||
| includes: | ||
| (1) directly or indirectly using state or local tax | ||
| revenue to finance the performance of an abortion or a service | ||
| related to an abortion; and | ||
| (2) providing preferential access to assets that are | ||
| owned or controlled by this state or a governmental entity in this | ||
| state through a lease, contract, or other agreement. | ||
| SECTIONਂ. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
