| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 661.913(b), Government Code, is amended | ||
| to read as follows: | ||
| (b) The employee must first use all available and applicable | ||
| paid vacation and sick leave while taking the leave authorized by | ||
| this section. An employee whose leave under this section exceeds | ||
| the amount of all available and applicable paid vacation and sick | ||
| leave is entitled, after exhausting that leave, to not more than 20 | ||
| days of additional paid leave. Any leave taken by the employee | ||
| under this section after exhausting the additional paid leave [ |

| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
