| of certain districts subject to a strategic partnership agreement. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 43.0751, Local Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Subsection (q-1) to read as follows: | ||
| (q-1) Except as provided by this subsection, the qualified | ||
| voters of a district any part of which is annexed for limited | ||
| purposes under a strategic partnership agreement under this section | ||
| are entitled to vote in municipal elections as provided by Section | ||
| 43.130. If the district includes area located in more than one | ||
| municipality, a qualified voter of a district is not entitled to | ||
| vote in municipal elections under this subsection if the voter is a | ||
| resident of a municipality other than the municipality subject to | ||
| the strategic partnership agreement. A resident of a district any | ||
| part of which is annexed for limited purposes under this section is | ||
| not eligible to be a candidate for or to be elected to a municipal | ||
| office. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
