	A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
	AN ACT
	relating to a local agreement with the Department of State Health
	Services to improve laboratory capabilities in border counties.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
	SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 12, Health and Safety
	Code, is amended by adding Section 12.073 to read as follows:
	Sec. 12.073. LOCAL AGREEMENT. The department shall enter
	into an agreement with an institution of higher education as
	defined by Section 61.003, Education Code, located in Cameron or
	Hidalgo County to increase the availability of laboratory services
	in counties adjacent to this state's international border with
	Mexico.
	SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
