relating to the consideration of distinction designations in the | ||
assignment of district and campus performance ratings under the | ||
public school accountability system. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 39.054, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (a-6) to read as follows: | ||
(a-6) For purposes of assigning an overall performance | ||
rating for a district or campus under Subsection (a), the | ||
commissioner by rule shall adopt a method for evaluating district | ||
or campus performance that: | ||
(1) provides for: | ||
(A) the assignment of a point value to each | ||
distinction designation awarded to a district or campus under | ||
Subchapter G; and | ||
(B) consideration of the number of points earned | ||
by a district or campus under Paragraph (A); and | ||
(2) ensures that the assigned weight of the total | ||
point value for distinction designations does not account for more | ||
than seven percent of the overall performance rating. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2024-2025 | ||
school year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the | ||
last day of the legislative session. |
