A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the exemption of certain property from municipal
  drainage service charges.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 552.053, Local Government Code, is
  amended by adding Subsections (d-2) and (d-3) to read as follows:
         (d-2)  A municipality may exempt property from all or a
  portion of drainage charges under Section 552.047 if the property
  is used as the principal residence of an individual who is:
               (1)  disabled as defined by Section 11.13(m), Tax Code;
               (2)  65 years of age or older;
               (3)  a veteran of the armed services of the United
  States; or
               (4)  a member of the armed services of the United States
  on active deployment.
         (d-3)  The municipality may impose additional eligibility
  requirements for an exemption authorized under Subsection (d-2).
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
  legislative session.
