| collection of court costs, fees, and fines imposed in criminal | ||
| cases. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Article 103.0033, Code of Criminal Procedure, is | ||
| amended by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (b-1) to | ||
| read as follows: | ||
| (b) Except as provided by Subsection (b-1), this [ |
||
| article applies only to: | ||
| (1) a county with a population of 50,000 or greater; | ||
| and | ||
| (2) a municipality with a population of 100,000 or | ||
| greater. | ||
| (b-1) This article does not apply to a county with a | ||
| population of less than 100,000 that contains a state supported | ||
| living center. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
