| relating to the suspension or removal of certain deputy sheriffs. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 85.003(f), Local Government Code, is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| (f) A deputy who is included in the coverage of a civil | ||
| service system created under Chapter 158 may be suspended or | ||
| removed only for a violation of a civil service rule adopted under | ||
| that system, except that a deputy who is covered under an agreement | ||
| adopted under Chapter 174 may be suspended or removed only | ||
| according to the terms of that agreement. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
