| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 264.908. USE OF PARENTAL CHILD SAFETY PLACEMENTS. (a) | ||
| Notwithstanding other law, the department shall use a parental | ||
| child safety placement in each case in which the department | ||
| determines it is appropriate. | ||
| (b) If the department determines that a parental child | ||
| safety placement is not appropriate, the department shall: | ||
| (1) record in writing in the child's case file the | ||
| reasons the department determined a parental child safety placement | ||
| was not appropriate; and | ||
| (2) notify the child's state representative and state | ||
| senator about the department's decision and the reasons the | ||
| department determined a parental child safety placement was not | ||
| appropriate. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
