| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 501.260, Occupations Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsections (d), (e), (f), and (g) to read as follows: | ||
| (d) A person licensed under this section may be employed by | ||
| and practice in a private school. | ||
| (e) A person may not use the title "licensed specialist in | ||
| school psychology" or "school psychologist" unless the person holds | ||
| a license issued under this section. | ||
| (f) A person who holds a license under this section may not | ||
| use the title "nationally certified school psychologist" unless the | ||
| person holds the appropriate credentials as designated by the | ||
| National Association of School Psychologists or a successor | ||
| organization. | ||
| (g) A person who holds a license under this section may not | ||
| use a title that represents that the person is licensed under | ||
| Section 501.252 unless the person holds a license under that | ||
| section. A person who holds a license under this section may not | ||
| use the title designated by the board under Section 501.259 unless | ||
| the person holds a license under that section. | ||
| SECTION 2. Sections 501.260(e), (f), and (g), Occupations | ||
| Code, as added by this Act, apply only to conduct that occurs on or | ||
| after the effective date of this Act. Conduct that occurs before the | ||
| effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the | ||
| date the conduct occurred, and the former law is continued in effect | ||
| for that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
