A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the annual state contribution to counties for certain
statutory probate court judge salaries.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 25.00211(a), Government Code, is amended
to read as follows:
(a) Beginning on the first day of the state fiscal year, the
state shall annually compensate each county [that collects the
additional fees under Section 51.704] in an amount equal to 60
percent of the state salary of a district court judge in the county
[$40,000] for each statutory probate court judge in the county who:
(1) does not engage in the private practice of law; and
(2) presides over a court with at least the
jurisdiction provided by Section 25.0021.
SECTION 2. Section 25.00211(b), Government Code, is
repealed.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
