A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the date by which a voter's registration becomes
effective.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 13.143, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
(f) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, an
applicant's registration is effective on election day if:
(1) the applicant's registration application is
approved;
(2) the applicant submitted the application not later
than the 14th day before the first day of early voting by personal
appearance for that election; and
(3) the applicant will be 18 years of age or older on
election day.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
