| ballot to be voted by mail. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 84, Election Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 84.006 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 84.006. APPLICATION FOR BALLOT VOTED BY MAIL: | ||
| ELECTRONIC COMPLETION. (a) An application for a ballot to be voted | ||
| by mail may be completed electronically on a device capable of: | ||
| (1) capturing a voter's signature; and | ||
| (2) allowing the voter to complete an electronic form. | ||
| (b) An application completed electronically under this | ||
| section must be printed and delivered to the early voting clerk in | ||
| accordance with Section 84.007. | ||
| (c) The secretary of state shall adopt rules governing the | ||
| creation of an electronic form that meets the requirements of | ||
| Section 84.011. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
