A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to training for school district liaisons who assist
  students in the conservatorship of the state with school
  enrollments and transfers.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 33.904, Education Code, is amended to
  read as follows:
         Sec. 33.904.  LIAISON FOR CERTAIN CHILDREN IN
  CONSERVATORSHIP OF STATE.  (a) Each school district shall appoint
  at least one employee to act as a liaison officer to facilitate the
  enrollment in or transfer to a public school of a child in the
  district who is in the conservatorship of the state.
         (b)  The agency shall:
               (1)  maintain a list of all district liaisons appointed
  under Subsection (a); and
               (2)  provide training and information to the district
  liaisons on best practices for facilitating the enrollment in or
  transfer to a public school of children who are in the
  conservatorship of the state.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
