| students in the conservatorship of the state with school | ||
| enrollments and transfers. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 33.904, Education Code, is amended to | ||
| read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 33.904. LIAISON FOR CERTAIN CHILDREN IN | ||
| CONSERVATORSHIP OF STATE. (a) Each school district shall appoint | ||
| at least one employee to act as a liaison officer to facilitate the | ||
| enrollment in or transfer to a public school of a child in the | ||
| district who is in the conservatorship of the state. | ||
| (b) The agency shall: | ||
| (1) maintain a list of all district liaisons appointed | ||
| under Subsection (a); and | ||
| (2) provide training and information to the district | ||
| liaisons on best practices for facilitating the enrollment in or | ||
| transfer to a public school of children who are in the | ||
| conservatorship of the state. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
