	A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
	AN ACT
	relating to the creation of an additional judicial district
	composed of Brazos County and the duties of the district attorney
	for the 85th Judicial District in Brazos County.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
	SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
	amended by adding Section 24.6007 to read as follows:
	Sec. 24.6007. 463RD JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY). (a)
	The 463rd Judicial District is composed of Brazos County.
	(b) The 463rd District Court has concurrent jurisdiction
	with the statutory county courts of Brazos County in misdemeanor
	cases as well as the jurisdiction prescribed by general law for
	district courts.
	SECTION 2. Section 43.143(a), Government Code, is amended
	to read as follows:
	(a) The voters of the 85th Judicial District elect a
	district attorney who represents the state in the district courts
	having jurisdiction in that county.
	SECTION 3. The 463rd Judicial District is created on the
	effective date of this Act.
	SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
