| composed of Brazos County and the duties of the district attorney | ||
| for the 85th Judicial District in Brazos County. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 24.6007 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 24.6007. 463RD JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY). (a) | ||
| The 463rd Judicial District is composed of Brazos County. | ||
| (b) The 463rd District Court has concurrent jurisdiction | ||
| with the statutory county courts of Brazos County in misdemeanor | ||
| cases as well as the jurisdiction prescribed by general law for | ||
| district courts. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 43.143(a), Government Code, is amended | ||
| to read as follows: | ||
| (a) The voters of the 85th Judicial District elect a | ||
| district attorney who represents the state in the district courts | ||
| having jurisdiction in that county. | ||
| SECTION 3. The 463rd Judicial District is created on the | ||
| effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | ||
