| supported by financial assistance administered by the Texas | ||
| Department of Housing and Community Affairs. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "department" means the | ||
| Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. | ||
| (b) Using existing resources, the department shall conduct | ||
| a study on the number of incidents and causes of mold contamination | ||
| in housing developments that are wholly or partly supported by | ||
| financial assistance the department administers. | ||
| (c) Not later than September 1, 2026, the department shall | ||
| prepare and submit to the legislature a written report that: | ||
| (1) summarizes the results of the study conducted | ||
| under this section; and | ||
| (2) recommends a course of action for preventing and | ||
| remediating incidents and causes of mold contamination in housing | ||
| developments that are wholly or partly supported by financial | ||
| assistance the department administers. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2027. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
