| relating to certain suits filed against a governmental unit and an | ||
| employee of the governmental unit. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 101.106(e), Civil Practice and Remedies | ||
| Code, is amended to read as follows: | ||
| (e) If a suit is filed asserting a claim for which this | ||
| chapter waives sovereign or governmental immunity [ |
||

||
| the claim against the employee [ |
||
| dismissed on the filing of a motion by the governmental unit. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 101.106(e), Civil Practice and Remedies | ||
| Code, as amended by this Act, applies only to an action filed on or | ||
| after the effective date of this Act. An action that is filed | ||
| before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law | ||
| applicable to the action immediately before the effective date of | ||
| this Act, and that law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
