| relating to posting certain economic development agreements on the | ||
| Internet. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subtitle C, Title 12, Local Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Chapter 500 to read as follows: | ||
| CHAPTER 500. MISCELLANEOUS PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT PROVISIONS | ||
| AFFECTING MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT | ||
| Sec. 500.001. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENTS POSTED ON | ||
| INTERNET. (a) In this section: | ||
| (1) "Economic development agreement" means an | ||
| agreement entered into between a political subdivision and a person | ||
| to promote state or local economic development and stimulate | ||
| business and commercial activity, including an agreement that | ||
| provides financial or other incentives to a business to locate, | ||
| stay, or expand its operations in or near the political | ||
| subdivision. | ||
| (2) "Political subdivision" means a county, | ||
| municipality, school district, junior college district, other | ||
| special district, or other subdivision of state government. | ||
| (b) A political subdivision that maintains an Internet | ||
| website must post on the website each economic development | ||
| agreement that the political subdivision enters into. The political | ||
| subdivision must post each agreement continuously from the date the | ||
| agreement is executed until the date the agreement expires. | ||
| SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 500.001, Local | ||
| Government Code, as added by this Act, a political subdivision must | ||
| post each economic development agreement as defined by that section | ||
| that is in effect on the effective date of this Act not later than | ||
| December 1, 2015. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
