| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Election Code, is amended by adding | ||
| Section 1.021 to read as follows: | ||
| SECTION 1.021 | ||
| INFORMATION PROVIDED BY VOTER. (a) Any form | ||
| completed by a voter and provided to an election officer shall | ||
| include the voter's name, address, date of birth, voter unique | ||
| identifier (VUID), if available, and the number from either a | ||
| driver's license, election identification certificate, or personal | ||
| identification card issued to the person by the Department of | ||
| Public Safety or last four digits of their social security number. | ||
| (b) A person desiring to register to vote who does not | ||
| possess the information required by Section 13.002(c)(8)(A) or (B) | ||
| may provide a statement under Section 13.002(c)(8)(C). | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2018. | ||
