| relating to employment of athletic coaches by school districts. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 21.003, Education Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
| (d) A person who does not hold a certificate or permit | ||
| issued as provided by Subchapter B may be employed part-time as an | ||
| athletic coach by a school district. This subsection does not | ||
| authorize a person employed as an athletic coach to provide | ||
| academic instruction, other than as assigned in athletic class | ||
| periods, to students without holding an appropriate certificate or | ||
| permit issued as provided by Subchapter B. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
