| relating to the extension of groundwater reduction target years | ||
| established by the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 8801, Special District Laws Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 8801.1121, which reads as follows: | ||
| Sec. 8801.1121. Groundwater Reduction Target Extension. (a) | ||
| Notwithstanding any other provision of law or rule adopted by the | ||
| Harris-Galveston Subsidence District, all deadlines for | ||
| groundwater reduction mandates and conversion requirements set | ||
| forth by the District are hereby extended by five (5) years from | ||
| their original scheduled dates. | ||
| (b) This extension applies to all applicable entities, | ||
| including but not limited to: | ||
| 1. Municipalities | ||
| 2. Water utilities | ||
| 3. Industrial users | ||
| 4. Groundwater permit holders | ||
| (c) The Harris-Galveston Subsidence District shall amend its | ||
| regulations and enforcement schedules within 90 days of the | ||
| effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a | ||
| vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2025 | ||
