A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to medical assistance reimbursement for certain health
  care services provided by a chiropractor.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 32.024, Human Resources Code, is amended
  by adding Subsection (jj) to read as follows:
         (jj)  The department shall provide medical assistance
  reimbursement to a chiropractor participating in the medical
  assistance program for the provision of a health care service to a
  recipient of medical assistance if:
               (1)  the chiropractor is licensed to practice
  chiropractic in this state;
               (2)  the chiropractor is authorized to provide the
  service as part of the practice of chiropractic; and
               (3)  the service is otherwise covered under the medical
  assistance program.
         SECTION 2.  If before implementing any provision of this Act
  a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a
  federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision,
  the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or
  authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the
  waiver or authorization is granted.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
