relating to medical assistance reimbursement for certain health | ||
care services provided by a chiropractor. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 32.024, Human Resources Code, is amended | ||
by adding Subsection (jj) to read as follows: | ||
(jj) The department shall provide medical assistance | ||
reimbursement to a chiropractor participating in the medical | ||
assistance program for the provision of a health care service to a | ||
recipient of medical assistance if: | ||
(1) the chiropractor is licensed to practice | ||
chiropractic in this state; | ||
(2) the chiropractor is authorized to provide the | ||
service as part of the practice of chiropractic; and | ||
(3) the service is otherwise covered under the medical | ||
assistance program. | ||
SECTION 2. If before implementing any provision of this Act | ||
a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a | ||
federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, | ||
the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or | ||
authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the | ||
waiver or authorization is granted. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
