| relating to truancy and the jurisdiction of justice courts | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 45, Code of Criminal | ||
| Procedures, is amended by striking: | ||
| Art. 45.054. FAILURE TO ATTEND SCHOOL PROCEEDINGS. (A) | ||
| Attend school |

| SECTION 2. Section 25.094, Chapter 25, Education Code, is | ||
| amended by adding: | ||
| (a)(2) fails to attend school on 12 |
||
| of days within a six-month period in the same school year or on | ||
| three or more days or parts of days within a four-week period. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
