| relating to the adoption of instructional materials for the | ||
| technology applications curriculum in public schools. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 31.023, Education Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
| (c) In adopting the list of instructional materials for the | ||
| technology applications curriculum, the State Board of Education | ||
| must include instructional materials that cover the essential | ||
| knowledge and skills for the digital citizenship strand of the | ||
| curriculum for each grade level in which digital citizenship is | ||
| required to be covered. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 31.023(c), Education Code, as added by | ||
| this Act, applies only to an instructional material list adopted on | ||
| or after the effective date of this Act. An instructional material | ||
| list adopted before the effective date of this Act is governed by | ||
| the law in effect when the instructional material list was adopted, | ||
| and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
