| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Not later than January 1, 2016, the Texas | ||
| Education Agency shall apply to the United States Department of | ||
| Education for a waiver of the annual alternate assessment of | ||
| students with significant cognitive disabilities required under | ||
| the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (20 U.S.C. Section 6301 et | ||
| seq.) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 | ||
| U.S.C. Section 1400 et seq.). | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
