A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to prohibited requests for or disclosures of information
  regarding certain child-care facility license holders' ownership,
  possession, use, or storage of a firearm or other weapon; creating a
  criminal offense.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 42, Human Resources Code,
  is amended by adding Section 42.04413 to read as follows:
         Sec. 42.04413.  PROHIBITION ON OBTAINING FIREARM
  INFORMATION. (a)  This section applies to a person:
               (1)  who holds a license, registration, or
  certification under this chapter; or
               (2)  who applies for a license, registration, or
  certification under this chapter.
         (b)  The department may not request, collect, compile, or
  disclose information regarding the lawful ownership, possession,
  use, or storage of a firearm or other weapon by a person described
  by Subsection (a).
         (c)  A person who violates Subsection (b) commits an offense.
  An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
