A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to increasing the fee for a permit authorizing the
movement of certain vehicles transporting an intermodal shipping
container.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 623.404(a), Transportation Code, as
added by Chapter 108 (S.B. 1524), Acts of the 85th Legislature,
Regular Session, 2017, is amended to read as follows:
(a) An application for a permit under Section 623.402(a) or
(b) must be accompanied by a permit fee of $8,000 [$6,000], of
which:
(1) 50 percent shall be deposited to the credit of the
state highway fund;
(2) 30 percent shall be equally divided among and
distributed to each county designated in the permit application;
(3) 16 percent shall be equally divided among and
distributed to each municipality designated in the permit
application; and
(4) 4 percent shall be deposited to the credit of the
Texas Department of Motor Vehicles fund.
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to an application for a permit that is filed with the Texas
Department of Motor Vehicles on or after the effective date of this
Act. An application for a permit filed before the effective date of
this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date of filing, and
that law is continued in effect for that purpose.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
