| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 503.001, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Subdivision (9-a) to read as follows: | ||
| (9-a) "License plate" means any type of regular or | ||
| temporary plate or tag, including replacement license plates and | ||
| license plates with numbers or a combination of letters and | ||
| numbers, made of metal, paper, or another material, that is issued: | ||
| (A) by the department or a person authorized by | ||
| the department to issue the plates; and | ||
| (B) for the purpose of authorizing a vehicle to | ||
| operate on a highway or another purpose authorized by law. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 504.001, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Subdivision (2-a) to read as follows: | ||
| (2-a) "License plate" has the meaning assigned by | ||
| Section 503.001. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
