| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 6.001, Family Code, is repealed. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act by the repeal | ||
| of Section 6.001, Family Code, applies only to a suit for | ||
| dissolution of a marriage that is filed on or after the effective | ||
| date of this Act. A suit for dissolution of a marriage filed before | ||
| the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect | ||
| immediately before the effective date of this Act, and the former | ||
| law is continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | ||
