AN ACT
relating to the requirement to compare and verify signatures when
renting a motor vehicle.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 521.460(b), Transportation Code, is
amended to read as follows:
(b) A person may not rent a motor vehicle to a renter
[another person] until the person has inspected [inspecting] the
renter's driver's license [of the renter and comparing and
verifying the signature on the renter's driver's license with the
renter's signature written in the person's presence].
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
