A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the date of the primary election runoff.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Sections 41.007(b), (c), and (d), Election Code,
are amended to read as follows:
Sec. 41.007. PRIMARY ELECTIONS. (a) The general primary
election date is the first Tuesday in March in each even-numbered
year.
(b) The runoff primary election date is the second [fourth]
Tuesday in April [May] following the general primary election.
(c) The runoff primary election date for any election for
federal office is the fourth Tuesday in May following the general
primary election.
(d) [(c)] The presidential primary election date is the
first Tuesday in March in each presidential election year.
(e) [(d)] No other election may be held on the date of a
primary election.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
