| relating to a study regarding the provision of the drug palivizumab | ||
| through the Medicaid vendor drug program to premature newborns. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. The Department of State Health Services shall | ||
| conduct a study to determine the appropriateness of criteria set | ||
| for approval for dosage to premature newborns: | ||
| (1) whether a newborn should meet 3 criteria before | ||
| administration of drug is approved; | ||
| (2) access to quality of medical care for a newborn | ||
| receiving this drug; | ||
| (3) any other factors the Agency considers relevant. | ||
| SECTION 2. No later than December 1, 2014, The Texas | ||
| Education Agency shall: | ||
| (1) publish the results of the study required by this | ||
| Act on the commission's available Internet website; and | ||
| (2) deliver the results of the study required by this | ||
| Act to: | ||
| (A) the governor, the lieutenant governor, the | ||
| speaker of the house of representatives, and each committee of each | ||
| house of the legislature that has jurisdiction over state health | ||
| services | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
