relating to the transfer of powers and duties relating to driver's | ||
licenses and personal identification cards from the Department of | ||
Public Safety to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. (a) The director of the Department of Public | ||
Safety and the executive director of the Texas Department of Motor | ||
Vehicles shall collaborate to prepare a comprehensive plan to | ||
transfer all of the programs operated by the Department of Public | ||
Safety relating to driver's licenses or personal identification | ||
cards from the Department of Public Safety to the Texas Department | ||
of Motor Vehicles. | ||
(b) The plan shall: | ||
(1) identify all employees, money, contracts, leases, | ||
rights, property, records, and bonds and other obligations of the | ||
Department of Public Safety relating to driver's licenses and | ||
personal identification cards; and | ||
(2) be drafted to ensure the smooth transition of all | ||
item listed above from the Department of Public Safety to the Texas | ||
Department of Motor Vehicles. | ||
(c) Not later than September 1, 2012 the report shall be | ||
submitted to: | ||
(1) the chair and all members of the Senate Committee | ||
on Transportation and Homeland Security; | ||
(2) the chair and all members of the House Committee on | ||
Transportation; and | ||
(3) the governor. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
