A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to granting limited state law enforcement authority to
special agents of the Office of Inspector General of the United
States Department of Homeland Security.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Article 2.122, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
amended by adding Subsection (h) to read as follows:
(h) A Special Agent of the Office of Inspector General of
the United States Department of Homeland Security is not a peace
officer under the laws of this state but has the powers of arrest,
search, and seizure as to any felony or misdemeanor offense
committed under the laws of this state.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
