	A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
	AN ACT
	relating to the posting of public notice of the issuance of a permit
	for an oil or gas well by the operator of the well.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
	SECTION 1. Subchapter Q, Chapter 91, Natural Resources
	Code, is amended by adding Section 91.7545 to read as follows:
	Sec. 91.7545. POSTING OF SIGN. In addition to giving notice
	as required by Sections 91.753 and 91.754, the operator shall, not
	later than the deadline for giving notice under Section 91.753,
	post in a conspicuous location on the tract of land on which the
	well is located or is proposed to be located a sign that:
	(1) gives notice of the issuance of the permit;
	(2) states the name of:
	(A) the owner of the property; and
	(B) the operator of the well;
	(3) is written in the English language;
	(4) has letters of at least one inch in height; and
	(5) is readily visible to a person approaching the
	property.
	SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
	to notice of the issuance of a permit issued on or after the
	effective date of this Act. Notice of the issuance of a permit
	issued before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law
	as it existed on the date the permit was issued, and the former law
	is continued in effect for that purpose.
	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
