| relating to an audit of faculty composition by the Texas Higher | ||
| Education Coordinating Board. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 61.09010 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 61.09010. AUDIT OF FACULTY COMPOSITION. (a) The board | ||
| shall conduct an annual audit of information and data related to the | ||
| age, gender, and race or ethnic composition of the faculty of | ||
| institutions of higher education. | ||
| (b) The board may require an institution of higher education | ||
| to report to the board the data and information the board considers | ||
| necessary to conduct a thorough audit under Subsection (a), | ||
| including data related to the age, gender, and race or ethnicity of | ||
| each faculty member of the institution. | ||
| (c) The board shall analyze the data and other information | ||
| audited under Subsection (a) to evaluate and determine the | ||
| appropriate hiring needs for future faculty at institutions of | ||
| higher education. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
