	A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
	AN ACT
	relating to an audit of faculty composition by the Texas Higher
	Education Coordinating Board.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
	SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is
	amended by adding Section 61.09010 to read as follows:
	Sec. 61.09010. AUDIT OF FACULTY COMPOSITION. (a) The board
	shall conduct an annual audit of information and data related to the
	age, gender, and race or ethnic composition of the faculty of
	institutions of higher education.
	(b) The board may require an institution of higher education
	to report to the board the data and information the board considers
	necessary to conduct a thorough audit under Subsection (a),
	including data related to the age, gender, and race or ethnicity of
	each faculty member of the institution.
	(c) The board shall analyze the data and other information
	audited under Subsection (a) to evaluate and determine the
	appropriate hiring needs for future faculty at institutions of
	higher education.
	SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
