BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 1001.253, Education Code, is amended by | ||
amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (g) to read as | ||
follows: | ||
(d) A [ |
||
education instructor license authorizing a person to teach or | ||
provide classroom training may not be issued unless the person: | ||
(1) has completed nine semester hours of driver and | ||
traffic safety education or a program of study in driver education | ||
approved by the commissioner from an approved driver education | ||
school; and | ||
(2) holds [ |
||
certification required to teach driver education. | ||
(g) The agency may not require a person to hold a teaching | ||
certificate as a condition of holding or renewing a driver | ||
education instructor license. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 1001.254, Education Code, is repealed. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
