A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to discount programs for members of the armed services
provided by toll project entities.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Amend Chapter 372.053, Transportation Code, by
adding a new paragraph (4) and retiling the section as follows:
Sec. 372.053. VETERAN AND ACTIVE DUTY MEMBERS OF THE ARMED
SERVICES DISCOUNT PROGRAM. (a) A toll project entity may establish
a discount program for electronic toll collection customers. The
program must include free or discounted use of the entity's toll
project by an electronic toll collection customer whose account
relates to a vehicle registered:
(1) under Section 504.202;
(2) under Section 504.315(g); or
(3) by a person who has received the Medal of Honor. ;
and
(4) by a person who is an active duty member of the
armed services.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
