| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 12.0272, Agriculture Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
| (d) Money in the Texas economic development fund may not be | ||
| used to finance a facility or establishment at which gambling is to | ||
| be conducted, including bingo and wagering on greyhound or horse | ||
| racing. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 481.078, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (e-2) to read as follows: | ||
| (e-2) The governor may not award a grant to an entity to | ||
| finance a facility or establishment at which gambling is to be | ||
| conducted, including bingo and wagering on greyhound or horse | ||
| racing. | ||
| SECTION 3. Section 481.078(e-2), Government Code, as added | ||
| by this Act, applies only to a grant awarded on or after the | ||
| effective date of this Act. A grant awarded before the effective | ||
| date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the | ||
| grant was awarded, and the former law is continued in effect for | ||
| that purpose. | ||
| SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
