| relating to the appointment of a state cybersecurity coordinator. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 2054, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subchapter O to read as follows: | ||
| SUBCHAPTER O. STATE CYBERSECURITY | ||
| Sec. 2054.551. CYBERSECURITY COORDINATOR. The executive | ||
| director shall designate an employee of the department as the state | ||
| cybersecurity coordinator to oversee cybersecurity matters for | ||
| this state. | ||
| Sec. 2054.552. PRIVATE INDUSTRY-GOVERNMENT COUNCIL. The | ||
| state cybersecurity coordinator may establish a council that | ||
| includes public and private sector leaders and cybersecurity | ||
| practitioners to collaborate on matters of cybersecurity | ||
| concerning this state. | ||
| Sec. 2054.553. CYBERSECURITY APPROVAL SEAL. The state | ||
| cybersecurity coordinator may establish a voluntary program that | ||
| recognizes private and public entities functioning with exemplary | ||
| cybersecurity practices. | ||
| Sec. 2054.554. RECOMMENDATIONS. The state cybersecurity | ||
| coordinator may implement any portion or all of the recommendations | ||
| made by the Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development | ||
| Council under Subchapter N. | ||
| SECTION 2. Not later than December 31, 2013, the executive | ||
| director of the Department of Information Resources shall designate | ||
| a state cybersecurity coordinator, as required by Section 2054.551, | ||
| Government Code, as added by this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the | ||
| legislative session. | ||
