| school employees. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1579, Insurance Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 1579.155 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 1579.155. WITHDRAWAL OF PARTICIPATING ENTITY WITH MORE | ||
| THAN 1,000 EMPLOYEES. (a) A participating entity that has more | ||
| than 1,000 employees may withdraw from the program, notwithstanding | ||
| any previous election or requirement to participate, by notifying | ||
| the trustee in writing that the entity is withdrawing from the | ||
| program. | ||
| (b) Withdrawal from the program under this section is | ||
| effective on the earliest September 1 that occurs after the | ||
| earliest March 1 after the date the entity provides the notice | ||
| required by Subsection (a). | ||
| (c) A participating entity that withdraws from the program | ||
| under this section may not resume participation in the program. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
