| relating to allowing a person to register a motor vehicle when | ||
| delinquent in the payment of certain civil penalties. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 707.017(a), Transportation Code, is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| (a) If the owner of a motor vehicle is delinquent in the | ||
| payment of a civil penalty imposed under this chapter, the county | ||
| assessor-collector or the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles may | ||
| not refuse to register, under Section 502.010 or any other law, a | ||
| motor vehicle alleged to have been involved in the violation. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 707.017(b), Transportation Code, is | ||
| repealed. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
