relating to the inclusion of overtime pay in the computation of | ||
benefits for certain members of the Employees Retirement System of | ||
Texas. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 811, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 811.0012 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 811.0012. COMPENSATION FOR CERTAIN LAW ENFORCEMENT | ||
OFFICERS. Notwithstanding Section 811.001(7), "compensation" for | ||
a law enforcement officer commissioned by the Department of Public | ||
Safety or a game warden or special game warden commissioned by the | ||
Parks and Wildlife Department includes overtime pay that is earned | ||
while providing law enforcement services in a county along the | ||
Texas-Mexico border. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to a member of the Employees Retirement System of Texas who retires | ||
on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
A member who retires | ||
before the effective date of this Act is subject to the law in | ||
effect on the date of the member's retirement, and that law is | ||
continued in effect for that purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
