A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the eligibility of school bus drivers for unemployment
  compensation benefits.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 207.041, Labor Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
         (b-1)  Subsection (b) does not apply to an individual if the
  services performed by the individual for an educational institution
  consist only of driving a school bus transporting students to and
  from school or a school-sponsored or school-related activity.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
  to a claim for unemployment compensation benefits filed with the
  Texas Workforce Commission on or after the effective date of this
  Act. A claim filed before the effective date of this Act is
  governed by the law in effect on the date the claim was filed, and
  the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
